ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Robert Coughlon, Jr. was born in 1968 and raised in southern California. After graduating from the University of Iowa with a degree in English, he attended law school at Whittier College School of Law in Los Angeles.

As a lawyer, he has spent over 30 years working on behalf of immigrants. During this time, he has advised thousands of immigrants regarding the U.S. immigration laws. He has been fortunate to be able to help many people successfully immigrate. But he has also seen how the immigration laws make it impossible for millions of undocumented immigrants to "do it the right way."

He has represented immigrants in family-based immigration, naturalization, removal defense, and federal court habeas corpus litigation.

He is the author of Fixing Immigration In America, to be published in September 2026. In this book, he offers a comprehensive plan for how U.S. immigration law should be reformed in a common sense way, and why it would be good for the U.S.

​

He lives in Phoenix, Arizona.
