Hello World!

I am excited to announce that I have written a book called Fixing Immigration in America, coming out on Amazon on September 15, 2026.

I want to give credit where credit is due.  My wife Kim suggested to me that I write this book.  She envisioned it as sort of like a field-guide to immigration law for non-lawyers, so people could understand the law better, something that could be a how-to manual on changing the immigration law.  She told me, “Americans love to fix things.  You should write a book about how to fix the immigration law.” 

After I wrote the manuscript, Kim has also been my collaborator in bringing this book to life.  As my partner in the publishing process, she helped make decisions about hiring an editor, cover designer, production team, marketer, and public relations firm.  So, whatever this book becomes, it will be in large part because of her.

I have always wanted to write a book, but honestly I had some trepidation about writing about immigration law.  On the one hand, I suppose it’s a natural subject for me to write about because I’ve devoted my career to it.  I care deeply about the law and immigrants.  But I wondered if I was the right person for the job.  Although I am an experienced immigration lawyer, I am by no means an expert across all the different areas of immigration law.  Also, the job of being an immigration lawyer has become even more frustrating and stressful recently, and I did not relish the prospect of spending hours each evening rehashing it.  Then, there was the question of how I might write an entire book about immigration reform, a subject that many lawyers could easily sum up on a single page.

Ultimately, I accepted the challenge and decided to do the best I could.  I started writing on November 11, 2025.  I set my goal to write a thousand words per day on the days that I wrote.  I finished the first draft on February 15, 2026.  Then, I spent the next five months editing and rewriting.  Throughout the process, I tried to produce a work that would appeal to general readers of different political persuasions.  Now that it’s done, I feel a great sense of accomplishment.  I think I did a pretty good job and I look forward to putting it out into the world for people to see my vision for the future of immigration law in the United States.

Immigration reform has been an elusive pipe dream in the United States for decades.  Up until recently, it was an esoteric topic that few non-lawyer U.S. citizens gave much thought to.  But Americans’ dissatisfaction with immigration law has swelled in the last year to the point that it has created a powerful wave of public opinion with undeniable force.  I hope that my book will be part of that movement.

It’s important to note that Fixing Immigration in America represents the truth about immigration law in the United States.  It shines a light on how our current law has given rise to the current political and social situation we find ourselves in.  In addition, the book presents the truth about the goodness of immigrants, their positive contributions to the United States, and why it’s important for the United States to continue to be a country of immigrants.  I have tried to write, in the clearest way I could, what I think would be a good, reasonable, practical plan for immigration reform, something that Americans might see as common ground.

  My goal was to write a book that would be educational for non-lawyers, that would also be a “good read.”  As I wrote, I tried to keep potential readers in mind and wanted to create something that would give people a satisfying experience when they read it, that could be informative, thought-provoking, and hopefully not boring.  Most importantly, I wanted to create something positive that might bring people together and improve the United States.  I hope you enjoy the book!
